Review: This wine smells like blackberry heaven with a hint of oak.
We get a mouthful of big blackberry jam on the palate, mild oak, gripping tannins, and a long, almost cherry finish. The legs tell me it’s a high alcohol wine, but it offers very little alcohol on the nose or heat on the palate. This is good. A solid example of what experts can do with the cabernet sauvignon grape. One of my favorite things about this wine is its long, fruity finish. It’s not overwhelming, oppressive. No, it’s a total tease, lingering on the tongue. Like an ex’s scent on your pillow, this wine whispers for you to have a little more, tells you it’s not over if you don’t want it to be, not yet. This is a dangerous wine, a rare thing; a temptress who follows through.
Wine is supposed to be an experience. It’s entertainment in a glass. It’s supposed to be an engaging sensory experience. This wine is an experience. It covers all the basics I want from a wine. It looks gorgeous, offers enticing scents, a rewarding taste and mouth feel, and a lingering finish to remind me I didn’t just drink a sip of water. It’s what wine is meant to be.
If you’re a cab fan, then this is for you.
