TL;DR Review: A simple wine. Dark, great mouth feel, not overly complex, but with a nice simple dark fruit palate.

This one’s a keeper. If you’re near a Costco that sells wine, it’s worth for you to make a stop and get a case of this one.

After a few sips appreciating this wine, an image came to mind of French farmers sitting around a rustic kitchen table, eating charcuterie and bullshitting about the poor weather that affected their harvests in all the wrong ways that year. It’s an infinitely humble, drinkable wine. The mouth feel is, for me, right around the sweet spot between too thin and too heavy. It’s very well balanced, with a lively acidity that makes each sip a treat. For fruit, I get black cherries and dark fruits that make me think of Syrah. No doubt this is a GSM blend, and I can tell they’ve leaned on the Syrah to the benefit of all us wine enthusiasts. I paired this with Castelvetrano olives and black forest ham. The olive’s acidity tamped down the wine’s acidity, and helped bring out some more of the wine’s dark, but not overwhelming, fruitiness. It’s really a lovely wine.
