Chateau Lamothe de Haux

A Typical Bordeaux Red.

What: Red. 2018

Where: Out of State Wine Store (sorry, Utah!)

How Much: $15 / bottle

Rating: 3 out of 5

Review: This is a red Bordeaux from Cadillac, in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, which is between the Left and Right banks. Generally, these reds lean a little harder on Merlot in the grape blend. The label tells us it’s 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc.

Definitely a more mellow nose, darker fruits, hints of blueberry and mocha.

Medium to full body. More pronounced tannins than the right bank red from last post.

In this one, the smoked meat seems to cancel out the tannins and leaves more fruit flavors (see that last wine I reviewed from the Right bank, Cab heavy, that did NOT like smoked meat).

A solid wine.
